 This seminal piece was Robert Wyland’s first and only hand pressed stone lithograph series.  Each print was done by hand in obverse negative w/crayon on stone, hand inked, paper dropped and pressed.  There were 7 Artist Proofs of this subject.  Each print is unique as the artist made small changes to the prints to add additional detail and correct imperfections caused by the lithography process. 
Four subjects were done in the 1982 series APs + 75 each including “Humpback Whale w/ Calf”. This one “Humpback Whale” is pictured in Robert Wyland’s book where he is working on this stone lithography process.  Wyland’s book may be included with the artwork.  This is a must have for any Wyland collector.  These stone lithography pieces very rarely comes to the market place.
